This is a discussion topic for the Ore project, Lift. View the full project on Ore for downloads and more information.

Lift

Lift for sponge

If you want to go up:

[Lift]
Up

If you want to go down:

[Lift]
Down

“Down/Up” are case insensitive.

Config:

"inverted": false,
"price": 0,
"range": 7,
"safe": false,
"whitelist": [
  "minecraft:air",
  "minecraft:glass"
]

“whitelist” contains all the blocks which will be ignored if they are obstructing the path between two signs.

“inverted” makes the “whitelist” act as a blacklist.

“price” (optional) is the price to pay for using a sign (You need an economy plugin for this).

“range” is the max distance between two signs.

“safe” forces you to be in front of a sign to use it.

FAQ:

Q: Does it work with API x.x.x ?

A: Version 1.x.x is for API 5.2.0.

A2: Version 2.x.x is for API 6.1.0.

Q: How do these lifts work? Does it just teleport the player? Does the lift make the player safely shoot up or down ? Or does the lift physically move ?

A: They teleport the player. When you click a sign with ‘[lift] Up’, it will look for its counterpart with ‘[lift] down’ on the same Y.

Q: Has this plugin been tested ?

A: https://i.redd.it/3a9zrfrpl8ky.jpg

A2: Just kidding, it’s stable.

How do these lifts work? Does it just teleport the player? Does the lift make the player safely shoot up or down (aka set velocity)? Or does the lift physically move (with the player) by a set number od blocks up or down and stops at the correct height?

#5

They teleport the player.

When you click a sign with ‘[lift] Up’, it will look for its counterpart with ‘[lift] down’ on the same Y.

Thanks for the question, I’ve added it to the FAQ.

Why not store the data signs ([Lift] Up Down) in CustomData? And give the ability to write them on arbitrary text. English not the only language. Sorry for bad English.

#7

I think I get what you mean, however when I wrote this plugin I wanted the signs to be recognizable.

BTW you can write arbitrary text on the last two lines of the sign.

#8

Prefer to arrange signs monotonous… in the same style. When part of the signs in Russian, and the second part in another language (or includes the occurrence of foreign words), it’s misleading children. Generates too many questions. This is how to launch a car with square wheels and forbid them to change :slight_smile: Recognizable, but…

A new version has been released for Lift, it is available for download here.

Update to API 7

#11

Can you provide an up to date tutorial for this plugin?

#12

It works like the old bukkit plugins
(see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPoqB1JZI_4)

Note that the things to put on the signs are different:

If you want to go up:

[Lift]
Up

If you want to go down:

[Lift]
Down

“Down/Up” are case insensitive.

The config is explained on the main post.
